9:53PM - I am still not dead

Long story short: I fucked up some stuff pretty badly and am having to redo about ten pages.

Basically, I've given up trying to beat a mass of polygons into submission and am doing those pages over, leaving out said mass of polygons and drawing the damn thing in post instead.

>_<

9:16PM - *wheeze*

And now that I'm done procrastinating on one fan project to work on another one, pages 107-109 are up.

10:58PM

Pages 105 and 106 up, more coming soon.

So I finally got Poser 6 and carved out time to copy over my damn Runtime folder, all eleventy bazillion gigs of it, so P6 could find all my shit. And then there was the playing with new features. Which is what took so damn long for this particular update.

The good:

1. HOLY CRAP POINT LIGHTS, IT'S ABOUT FRIGGIN' TIME, WE'VE ONLY BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR WHAT, TEN YEARS, FRIGGIN' POV-RAY HAS HAD THE DAMN THINGS SINCE DAY ONE, WTF TOOK YOU SO LONG TO IMPLEMENT THIS!?

2. I am so in love with IBL/AO. Pretty and soft and (more) realistic shadows!

3. OpenGL preview! A tiny bit glitchy on my machine, but still faster than the old preview engine. I loaded up the 8-Mart scene first thing, and where it took forever to pan around in P5, it had no noticeable slowdown in P6 with the OpenGL preview mode on.

4. Saving: WAY FASTER. Not sure why, but P5 took FORFUCKENEVER to save a scene. P6 does this much faster.

5. Holy crap, lots of content. I haven't even scratched the surface playing with all the neat shit that comes with it.

6. James (the P6 male figure) is a great improvement on P5's Don. I might actually USE him.

The bad:

1. Saving is faster, but for some reason loading takes forever now. Enh.

2. Jessi (the P6 female) scares me. She looks like a space alien, and she isn't supposed to.

3. Camera does not always switch from one view to another like it used to in P5--like, say, if I'm using the Face Camera on one figure in the scene, then select another figure, the view used to jump to the second figure's Face Camera, and now it stays on the first in preview BUT NOT IN THE ACTUAL RENDER, and I don't notice this until the damn scene is halfway rendered half the time. }:E

4. Which brings me to: is it just me, or does stuff render slower? Because it sure seems like it.

The verdict:

It'll do. :D

9:46AM - Warning: rage

Something that should go without saying...

If you want to use my images on your website, ask me first. Chances are I'll say yes, provided you GIVE CREDIT and PUT THE IMAGES ON YOUR OWN WEBSPACE.

Don't use my work without permission. That includes all of it. Yes, that includes the navigation images and yes I'm talking to you, http://cityoftheevil.darkbb.com , which is covered with stolen images from my site and other sites and whose admin doesn't even have the guts to put his/her/its e-mail address out in the open. "Oh, I can't ask, I no speak English" will not fly. DO NOT USE MY WORK WITHOUT PERMISSION. PERIOD. Don't use my work without credit. And don't steal my bandwidth.

Seriously, do you think I'm fucking stupid? I have this thing. It's called a stats page. It tells me where my bandwidth is going and where my shit is showing up. With its help, I have caught a lot of people who are stealing my work and leeching my bandwidth, and they will be unpleasantly surprised the next time they look at their crap MySpace page, stupid RP forum, or lame LJ. Because I have this other thing. It's called .htaccess. And I enjoy telling it to send hotlinkers to embarrassing replacement images.

The exception to the permission/credit rules: LJ icons, if I ever decide to make a batch. Take and use freely. That's what icons are for. The hotlinking rule still applies, though, so if you want to use them somewhere other than LJ, put them on your own space.

COMMON FUCKIN' COURTESY. 'S ALL I ASK.

10:26PM - I am not dead, part 2

Started new job couple weeks ago. Have also been poking some fanfic. Have also been cussing at scenery. Finally got off ass and fixed said scenery today.

Have several pages' worth of stuff rendered, just need to carve it up and put it together.

No update yet, as bad things have happened this week and I also still have scenery to build.

However, I did get a wild hair up my butt yesterday to make a little Supernatural/Silent Hill crossover crack fancomic based on the lovely squealworthy fic by [info]ladysisyphus. :D

When you're done there, you can see this bit in its infancy; this is the scene I used to make sure I wasn't biting off more than I could chew on this project:

I spent the weekend out in the country, and so did not update. However, I spent this evening rendering, and now have about four pages' worth of stuff to cut up and assemble.

Also, the current scene just happens to be the one I picked way back when to do as a test. Just for shits and giggles, I'll post the test pages as well when I'm done making the real things.
